The Invasion of Britain 1940

29th September
The Invasion of Britain 1940
The 1940s Society. Meet at 7.30pm. ‘The Invasion of Britain 1940’ with Ian Thomson. In May 1940, German blitzkrieg tactics smashed through Allied defences. First came the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk, and then the surrender of France. Germany seemed invincible at this point, so why didn’t Hitler invade Britain? This talk is about both the facts and the myths of that summer of 1940 and explains what actually happened. The meeting will take place at Otford Village Memorial Hall, Otford High Street, Otford TN14 5PQ. Admission £5 (cash only, please). Doors open 7pm. Refreshments will be available during the break. Free car parking next to Hall.
