The talk will take us through the topics of – The Hop Bine, The history & Uses in Brewing, Gruit, Growing Cycle, (Methods, Stringing, Harvesting), Hop Pickers Working & Living Conditions, Many interesting anecdotes and stories, Hop Picking Disasters, Drying & Oast Houses, Historical Growing Areas in Kent, World Production, Medicinal, Food, Drink & other uses, Diseases and New Varients. Non-members welcome, donations appreciated SVGA membership is £10 per year and you get 3 general interest talks, a spring and autumn show plus 10% discount at Homeleigh Timber Building Supplies Ltd, Millbrook Garden Centre, Coolings Potted Garden Nursery in Bearsted, Bijou Nursery in Wateringbury and Rumwoo Garden Centre on production of your current 2025 yellow membership card.
