Newington History Group Village Hall High Street, Newington ME9 7JJ Thursday, 27th April, 7pm In his talk, The Forgotten Men of Dunkirk – Those They Left Behind, Terry Matson will tell the stories of local men who were among thousands of British troops abandoned in France following the Dunkirk evacuation in May 1940. Winston Churchill called the evacuation of 338,000 troops ‘a miracle’, but 41,000 were left to their fate. Terry will explain what happened to them. Admission is £3 for non-NHG members. It includes refreshments and there is free parking at the hall.
