The annual Newington Uncovered
A free event, organised by Newington History Group as part of the National Trust’s Heritage Open Days. This year’s theme is creativity with photographic and art exhibitions, children’s activities, tours and talks in and around the church on Sunday from 2pm until 5pm. There will be guided walks – Newington’s Heritage (Saturday, 10.30am) and Bugs and Birds natural history (Sunday, 11am) – from the church car park. Timed activities include: a Guided Church Tour (2.15pm); Bugs in the Churchyard talk (2.45pm) followed by children’s bug drawing; Medieval Graffiti (3.30pm) and St Mary’s 14th Century Murals (4.15pm). No need to book. In addition, a geocache treasure hunt will run and there will be heritage displays and refreshments.
