Although the group’s walks leaders take care with the planning and execution of their walks, anyone taking part in our walks does so at their own risk. Please stay behind the walk leader and in front of the back marker. Leaders must be allowed to follow their planned route and walkers should only intervene if help is requested.
If the weather is bad, please check that the walk will go ahead. If a walk is cancelled, we will try to update Facebook and our website but this cannot be guaranteed.
Walkers are advised to wear appropriate footwear (walking boots, sturdy trainers or wellingtons) and to bring water and their own basic first aid equipment for every walk.
DOGS ON WALKS
Please check the details of each individual walk as to whether dogs are allowed on that walk. Please see www.meopham-walkers.co.uk/walks-programme for our full policy regarding dogs.
If advertised as “Dogs on SHORT leads only” please keep them on short leads at all times as long leads can cause a hazard for other walkers.
If advertised as “Well behaved … dogs … without a lead…” they MUST BE ON A LEAD where farm animals are in fields (please observe any signs on farm gates etc) and leaders will insist that dogs are put back on the lead if they cause any issues for other walkers. If a dog is badly behaved, the owner will be asked to leave the walk and the dog will not be allowed in future.
Many walks include stiles, which may not be accessible by large dogs.
