Medway Ramblers – Start 10:00 hrs – 8 miles/12.9 km – Moderate (Finishes 14:30 approx.) Newington and Lower Halstow Starts at 10:00: Free parking in the village hall carpark next to the Acorn hand car wash. Alternative free parking at Newington Station which is a 5-minute walk from the carpark. A train from Rochester arrives at 9.29am for anyone wishing to join by public transport. (ME9 7JJ, TQ861647). This walk features in The Times’ Britain’s Best Walks book and includes the villages of Newington, Lower Halstow and Upchurch as well as orchards, horse fields and a section of the Saxon Shore Way. Bring a drink and a packed lunch for a midway break. Terrain: Footpaths and country lanes. There are a couple of small hills but no stiles on this walk. It is likely to be muddy after rain.
