Lois Oliver: Impressionism & Modern Femininity Many Impressionist artists were well known for their images of female figures engaged in contemporary activities, and a number of critics regarded Impressionism as a quint essentially ‘feminine’ style. But what can these images tell us about nineteenth-century lived experience and the choices involved in image-making? This lecture explores these questions through artworks by Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, and Edgar Degas. Our lectures are held at Walthamstow Hall Senior School, Holly Bush Lane, Sevenoaks,TN13 3UL and parking is free. www.theartsscoietysevenoaks.org.ukemail:secretary.sevenoaksartssoc@gmail.com
