22nd June 6.30pm St Mary’s Hadlow
The 16 voiced choir Voce Sacri, and the much in demand organist Simon Roberts, are giving a recital in St Mary’s Hadlow on Saturday 22nd June. The mid 19th and early 20th centuries marked a magical period of choral music with works by Parry, Stanford (whose centenary it is), Vaughan Williams, Ireland, Wood and Holst to name some! They all have a link to the Royal College of Music, either as teachers, students or in Parry’s case Director. Voce Sacri’s programme will offer a flavour of this musical ‘Who’s Who’ of English music writing, ranging from well-known hymn tunes (Vaughan Williams’ hymns include Come down O love divine, Let all the world in every corner sing, For all the Saints and All creatures of our God and King) to reflective works, from organ pieces to larger scale compositions. Free entry. Bar available from 6pm: concert 6.30pm – 8pm including a short interval with retiring collection. Come and wallow in this gorgeous music!
