GCSE Astronomy, Astronaut Animals
8 p.m. Bredhurst Village Hall Caroline Beevis – 2001: GCSE Astronomy, (More) Astronaut Animals, and My Interview with Sir Patrick Moore. It was Summer 2001. No, we hadn’t undertaken a manned mission to Jupiter. And Windows XP appeared to be slightly less sinister than HAL. But, I had accomplished three things: – I’d passed my Astronomy GCSE, (A*!)
– I’d begun volunteering at The South Downs Planetarium (SDP) in Chichester, and – I’d interviewed the newly-knighted Sir Patrick Moore at his home in Selsey. Following on from my previous MKAS talk, ‘Space Dogs, The True Story of Russia’s Canine Cosmonauts’, we’ll take a further, short look at the various animals that have been sent into Space based on workshops I was involved in at SDP, as well as a quick summary of undertaking Astronomy GCSE and a never-before-aired world premiere: my recording of my interview with Sir Patrick! An informative, (somewhat) educational, light-hearted talk for all the family. Please visit our website: www.midkentastro.org.uk/events
