Defending the Swale
23rd July, 7.30pm ME9 7JJ
Newington History Group’s monthly public talk in the Village Hall looks at how the north Kent coast around the Swale and estuary marshes has been protected across the centuries by defences on the land, at sea and in the air.
Adam Taylor returns to share his extensive local knowledge with the group. Visitors very welcome, £4 at the door (members free) and includes free light refreshments. Free parking at the hall or opp. in Callaways Lane.
No talk next month but there’s a free public event, An Introduction to Newington’s History and Heritage, on Sunday, September 6 (3pm) in the Village Hall.
The group meets monthly (except Jan. and Aug) at 7.30pm usually on the fourth Thursday. Membership is available for £18pa.
