Community Talks in Herne bay
(2.15pm-4.15pm) PHYSICAL SCIENCES: A LIFE IN FORENSICS with Andrew Langley, Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry and Forensics at the University of Kent. Andrew will cover some history of forensics before going into what really lies behind the images we all see of paper-suited scientists of crime scenes. Who are they? What do they do? And how do they do it? Andrew will also cover a few cases (sensitively) and give some insight into Disaster Victim Identification and how forensic work can become harmful to the individuals working in the field. Prior to working at Kent University, Andrew Langley was a Crime Scene Examiner, Fingerprint Identification Expert and Operational Forensic Manager with the Metropolitan Police for 35 years.
