Rough Common & Harbledown Gardeners’ Association

Rough Common & Harbledown Gardeners’ Association is a small but friendly and thriving group of like-minded people. Most of us are not expert gardeners but are keen and interested in horticulture. Our membership is currently about thirty but we would be delighted to welcome new people. We meet monthly on the third Wednesday evening of the month at 7.30 p.m. in Rough Common Village Hall. At most meetings we have an outside speaker and cover a wide range of gardening topics. We hold monthly competitions, “flower of the month”, “potted plants” and “any home-made item”. The latter covers anything from baking to knitting to painting, etc. A member gives us a list of gardening jobs for the month. We hold an annual show in September when we compete for cups with exhibits of home-grown fruit and vegetables, flowers, potted plants, home-made goods, etc. We aim to have an annual group outing, usually in May. Our fees are very modest: the current annual subscription is £10 per person due in February each year and we have a meeting fee of £3 each to cover costs including refreshments and a raffle ticket.
