Chipstead Sailing Club
Chipstead Sailing Club is a friendly and active community and we welcome newcomers of all abilities. Sailing is safe, fun and suitable for ALL ages.
This welcoming sailing club is where locals come to use the lake, learn skills and spend time with others who love being on the water!
The club’s passion for all things sailing has grown CSC into a very friendly and active community where members can share knowledge, have fun and get involved!
The main racing season runs from the start of April to the end of October with racing taking place on Saturdays, Sundays – and Wednesday evenings (daylight hours permitting). There are handicap and class races so everyone can sail in each session.
We have an active Junior section, ‘Chipmates’ where 8 – 18 year olds, with some sailing experience, can participate in coaching and racing sessions on Saturday mornings with a view to gaining confidence and improving their existing skills.
Saturday Adult Club (SAC) is also run on Saturdays by members who are RYA qualified instructors and give training sessions for total Beginners and Improvers.
Wealden Sailability runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Disabled Sailors who have physical and/or learning difficulties encouraging them to get out on the water and have fun.
Women on Water (WOW) is a fun group that meets on Thursday mornings, for ladies only, who have some sailing experience and want to practice and develop their existing skills.
Social sailing is available every day outside of organized racing/coaching sessions. Members are always encouraged to ‘buddy sail’ with others for safety reasons.
Sailing can often be viewed as an expensive sport but this doesn’t have to be the case. We have Class boats available to borrow for a small charge and the opportunity to buy second hand equipment and kit to explore the sport before any significant spending is required.

If you’ve ever wanted to try sailing and not known how or where to get details, why not come along to our Open Day on Easter Monday, 6th April and find out what it’s all about. We are giving members of the public, including children over 8 years old, the opportunity to have an introduction to sailing with experienced CSC members who are RYA instructors, by offering free 30 minute taster sessions throughout the day.
