Meet outside St Giles Church, Shipbourne next to The Chaser Inn at 09.45. Free car parking on Shipbourne Common but it may be busy as there is a Sunday church service at 09.30. TN11 9PF

Shipbourne to Underriver From Shipbourne Churchyard we head through Peacock Wood and Lukes Wood alongside the Fairhill Estate and then pass a line of great oak trees to reach the hamlet of Underriver, where we will have a a nibble break in the village hall garden.

 

The return is via woodland and farmland with views of Underriver House. Finally, we cross fields with a fine view of Shipbourne Church.

 

Although not hilly, the walk is listed as moderate due to the large number of stiles (up to 19 – depending on whether farm gates are open or closed). A few are high and in a poor condition. The lovely quiet surroundings of the walk and excellent views, make the stiles worth climbing.
