Secrets of the Bayeux Tapestry

Secrets of the Bayeux Tapestry
28th May, 7.30pm ME9 7JJ

Newington History Group’s monthly public talk in the Village Hall marks the tapestry’s return to Britain for the first time in 900 years. Martin Heard details its lesser known facts.

The 70m-long embroidery of the Norman conquest of 1066 – believed to have been created in Kent – goes on display at the British Museum in September. The talk is open to all (£4 at the door, members free) and includes free light refreshments.
NB: ANPR now operates in the car park – register vehicle details inside the hall.
Next month’s talk (25th June) is the Kent Miners’ Strike 1984-85. The group meets monthly (except Jan. and Aug) at 7.30pm usually on the fourth Thursday. Membership is available for £18pa.
