Aboard the Kent & E Sussex Railway
19th December, 7pm, Newington Village Hall
Newington History Group offers a festive evening with a talk marking the 50th anniversary of the reopening of the Kent & East Sussex Heritage Railway. The line was the first light passenger railway in Britain, operating from 1900 until 1954, and Simon Marsh will describe its rich history, including the successful scheme to get steam trains running again in 1974. It operates Santa Special tours during December. This evening is open to all (£4 at the door). Newington History Group meets monthly except in January and August. Membership available.
